GEAR PUMPS

Gear pumps are positive displacement pumps. These pumps are designed with 2 sets of gears that mesh against each other. Fluid will flow from the suction of the pump into a void or cavity between the two sets of gears. As the gears are rotated the cavity collapse and forces the fluid to the discharge port of the pump. There are both Internal and External gear pump designs.
